About Us

Kickin' it for a Cure is trying to raise funds and awareness for The ALS Association and The Arthritis Foundation by bringing patients and their families together for a day of fun and support!

Creators of Kickin' it for a Cure and why we are so passionate about finding cures:

Cassie Kendra: Cassie’s Dad was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in early 2008 and lost his battle on May 4, 2010. When her dad was diagnosed, Cassie made a commitment to find a cure for this devastating disease that robs the patient of their ability to walk, talk and eventually breathe and robs families of their loved ones far too early in life. No one should have to suffer from such an illness. Cassie is a team captain for the Grand Rapids Walk to Defeat ALS and has assisted in planning the walks for the past 2 years. She also volunteers and participates in various other charitable events raising money for the ALS Association Michigan Chapter.

Rachel Wustman: Rachel was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis when she was 7 years old. She has gone through numerous types of medications and treatments. She has dedicated her time to volunteering with The Arthritis Foundation Michigan Chapter at Camp Dakota, numerous Arthritis Walks, and Jingle Bell Run's.
